Siren Speaks

by Sophia Potter

I am not yours to

keep

my siren song

is not yours alone,

my sweet

I sing it out for

all who will listen

tears they pour

from silver eyes

please listen,

I do what I want

I do what I need

the music is freely given

girls they cry and

turn the other cheek

with me, with me

my love

I jump into the creek

your bows and

arrows hurt me

not

the shields and swords

with which you fought

I was sent to destroy

all that stands in your way

mother nature

can be a violent lover

and yet she

loves to play

like a lamb in the cool damp

Where do you stand?

Are you a man?

I do not want

your heart or hand

For in dark waters,

deep,

scorpion dance

I am

The secret parts

of me are bright

as snow and firelight

They are black and full of tar

in Hades' den

I glow

I flow

I let you go
