The Fall

by Sophia Potter

Wicked smile

and pointed teeth

my daddy wears me like a wreath

my angel son

my Hanuman

he's black and smoking

like a gun

And with Adam's head upon

a pyre

God set ablaze the holy fire

of Lilith's love

of her desire

The virgin queen she died alone

without her baby or her throne

Oh Inanna, sends her best

and Enki finally comes to rest

father, dear,

have no fear!

will you lick my face of tears?

Lucifer he came and went

searched the cosmos for her scent

so Lilith left,

made her

descent

she tamed the demons

made them pets

Her heart is sang into the depths:

I love you

more for what you are

a wild dog,

a devil dire,

the angel's cried when you came down

oh God has lost his favorite hound!

And Lucifer he got undressed

upon his lady love's request
